     Golden Beaches

   of the East Algarve

The Algarve is home to some of the worlds finest beaches with many having been awarded the "Blue Flag" stamp of approval. With over 200 km of Algarve coastline there are almost too many beaches to count.

From Vila Real Santo Antonio (on the Spanish border) to Manto Rota, the beaches consist of one long stretch of sand. Heading further toward Faro the coastline consists of superb island beaches. The following East Algarve beaches are well worth a visit:

Barril Beach
This is the closest beach to Cascata de Flores and takes 5 - 10 minutes to reach by car. Access to the beach requires a further 1km walk through the Ria Formosa Natural Park or a 5 minute ride on a miniture train.
This beach used to be a tuna fishing station before it fell into disuse and the buildings were converted into restaurants and toilet facilities.
